At-Turaif is the historic core of Diriyah, on the edge of modern Riyadh, and was the original capital of the first Saudi State founded in the eighteenth century. Built in a distinctive Najdi mud-brick style along the Wadi Hanifah, its palaces, mosques, baths, and residential quarters have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010.
