About
Restored Hejazi merchant house in Jeddah's UNESCO-listed Al-Balad district presented as a heritage museum, with period rooms and displays on the social history of historic Jeddah.
Beit Al-Balad is one of the restored coral-stone merchant houses in Jeddah's UNESCO-listed Al-Balad district, presented as a heritage museum and cultural venue. Period rooms, courtyards, and rooftops introduce visitors to the layout and life of a traditional Hejazi household, while displays cover the building materials, the rawasheen (carved wooden balconies), trade routes that fed the city, and the social fabric of old Jeddah as a Red Sea port. The museum sits within a walking circuit that also includes other restored houses, mosques, and the old souqs of Al-Balad.
