About
Historic mudbrick fort and barracks complex in central Hail, restored and operated as a museum on the city's heritage and the early administrative history of the region.
Al-Qishlah is one of the most imposing historic structures in central Hail, a large mudbrick fort and barracks complex laid out around interior courtyards, watchtowers, and a colonnaded prayer hall. Built in the first half of the twentieth century as a garrison for the new Saudi administration, it has been restored and operated as a heritage museum on the city's history. Displays cover the architecture and construction of the building, the early administrative history of Hail and northern Najd, traditional costumes and weapons, and material connected to the surrounding A'arif and Barzan historical landmarks.
