About

Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site: a Nabataean city in AlUla with monumental rock-cut tombs, inscriptions and water systems.

Hegra, historically known as Mada’in Salih, was the southern capital of the Nabataean kingdom and is Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site preserves more than a hundred monumental tombs cut into golden sandstone outcrops, alongside inscriptions, wells, and the remains of a planned ancient city set on a major caravan route between Arabia and the Mediterranean.

Hegra is part of the wider AlUla cultural landscape, which also includes Dadan, Jabal Ikmah, and the oasis itself. Access is organised through official AlUla visitor programmes. Please verify current access arrangements, ticketing and tour requirements from the official source before planning your visit.

Opening hours, ticket prices and access rules may change. Please verify details from the official source before planning your visit.
